James Gibson is the president of a private defense company, Vortex Defense Industries. Normally he has implicit faith in his teammates. But Gibson feels a sudden distrust after the improbable, lethal ambush of his operatives in Donetsk, Ukraine.
Then Gibson receives an unexpected visitor: a Russian with grievances against her state. “There’s a mole in Vortex,” she says. She states that she is the mole’s handler, that the mole is code named The Black Bat, and that no Russian knows the mole’s identity. Soon after, Gibson’s visitor is murdered by her compatriot.
To find the mole, Gibson must set deadly traps of his own, even as the mole begins to hunt him.
